RED-E-BINS DO’S AND DON’TS

 

Accepted and Prohibited Items

There are strict regulations on what can be disposed of safely and what RED-E-BINS is not authorized to process.  Review the lists below:

 

Household Garbage

Household Garbage refers to everyday waste produced by typical household activities. This includes:

Acceptable Items:

  • Kitchen waste: food scraps, packaging, paper towels, and other biodegradable items.
  • Household paper products: newspapers, magazines, junk mail, and paper packaging.
  • Plastic bins: rinsed out and clean.
  • Windows: Broken Glass and windows
  • Metal cans: rinsed out and clean.
  • Clothing and textiles.
  • Small household items: broken toys, small appliances (toasters, kettles), and other minor items.
  • Large furniture: Includes couches and large tables. 
  • Yard waste: branches, leaves, and grass clippings.
  • Mattresses: $30 per unit

Unacceptable Items:

  • Hazardous waste: chemicals, batteries, paint, and solvents.
  • Electronics: computers, televisions, and other large electronic devices.
  • Tires: Tires of any size
  • Concrete: Concrete/cement, includes bricks, small pieces (designated bin for concrete required, see construction waste)
  • Soil: Any type of fill will not be accepted

Construction Garbage

Construction Garbage includes waste generated from construction, renovation, or demolition projects. This includes:

Acceptable Items:

  • Wood: lumber, plywood, and wooden beams.
  • Metal: nails, screws, metal studs, and pipes.
  • Tiles and ceramics: floor tiles, wall tiles, and other ceramic materials.
  • Insulation materials: fiberglass, foam, and other insulation.
  • Carpet: rolled up and manageable pieces.
  • Plumbing materials: old pipes, sinks, and fixtures.
  • Kitchen Cabinets & Countertops: Includes laminate and granite.
  • Flooring: Hardwood, vinyl and laminate
  • Windows: Broken Glass and windows
  • Decking: Railings and materials
  • Concrete, Drywall & Roofing Materials: Please call for a quote.

Unacceptable Items:

  • Hazardous materials: asbestos, lead paint, and chemical waste.
  • Electronics: computers, monitors, and other large electronic devices.
  • Large quantities of soil: excessive amounts of dirt and sand.
  • Tires: any type of vehicle tires.
